Joseph “Dalton” Courson, 27, of Hortense, died Sunday, September 5, 2021. The Wayne County native was currently employed as an engineer with Southern Nuclear of Appling County.  The 2012 Graduate of Wayne County High School was a 2016 Graduate of Georgia Southern University and a member of the Jesup Masonic Lodge 112. He was a black belt recipient, avid gun enthusiast, golfer, motorcyclist and enjoyed all outdoor activities. His maternal grandparents, Emory “Papa” and Corene Roberson preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Kaytlyn Sims Courson of Hortense; parents, Joey and Joy Roberson Courson of Hortense; sister, DeAnna (Chad) Hodges of Hortense; niece, Lilly Hodges; nephew, Walker Hodges; his paternal grandfather, Glynn “Papa” Courson, Sr. of Jesup and paternal grandmother, Nell “Granny” Courson of Hortense.

Celebration of life services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Pastor Matt Denison officiating. Graveside services followed in the Hortense Cemetery, 861 Ballfield Road, Hortense, GA 31543 with Masonic rites. Active pallbearers were his groomsmen and family.

Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the funeral home.
