Mrs. Christine D. Shumans, 75, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at her residence.
Mrs. Shumans was born September 7, 1945 in Bacon County, Georgia; she was preceded in death by her parents, the late Tom Davis and Pearl Crowley Davis, five brothers, Daniel Davis, Silas Davis, Jim Davis, Roy Davis, Russell Davis and Freddie Davis and two sisters, Mary Yawn and Allie Varnadore. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Ferry Road Baptist Church. She worked as a clerk with Dollar General and was formerly employed as a dispatcher with the Hazlehurst Police Department.
Aunt Chrissy never had any biological children but she loved and cared for all of her nieces and nephews as her own.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Troy Shumans of Baxley, a sister, Elfreida Dyal of Baxley and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Satilla Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Smith and Rev. Shon McEachin officiating.
Pallbearers were Trey Ryals, Jimmy Joe Davis, Dwayne Davis, Wadis Davis, J.C. Smith and Samuel Dyal.
Because of the family’s concern for public health and safety during this pandemic, the Shumans family and Wainright Parlor Funeral Home respectfully asked for all who attended to wear masks and follow the social distancing guidelines set by our local health district and the CDC.
