Lithonia Joseph Harris, affectionately known to many as “Roscoe,” was born in Appling County to the parentage of the late Mary “Lizzy” Westpond and Son Reed on December 8, 1934.

Roscoe grew up in church and was a member of Rachel Missionary Baptist Church. He was educated in the Appling County School System. He was a loving and devoted father to one daughter, Yolanda Rollerson.

Roscoe worked in New York City as brick mason where he devoted over 10 years of faithful service. He also served his country in the United States Army for 20 years until his health began to fail. One of his most notable accomplishments during his time in the military was that he fought during World War II.

Roscoe departed this life to rest from all his labor on November 29, 2021. His wife, Ruby Harris, and his parents, Mary Westpond and Son Reed, precede him in death.

Left to cherish his memories is one daughter, Yolanda Rollerson; three godchildren, Elaine Harris, Elaine Gibson and Tyrone Harris, Sr.; one god sister, Willa Mae Norwood; one god brother, Willie James Norwood; one special aunt, Eudell Harris Jenkins; two favorite cousins, Willie Jean Williams and Sondra Wilson; and a host of loving family and friends.

Funeral services were held on December 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Rachel Missionary Baptist Church.

Pastor Kendall Bennamon gave a eulogy. Tammy Richburg and Alberta Ryals rendered musical selections.

Active Pallbearers were Henry Reddish, Jr., Tyrone Harris, Sr., John McTier, Frank Parker and Elliot “Rump” Reddish.

Repast was held at the home of Elaine Harris.

Funeral Services were entrusted to C. M. Brown Funeral Home.
