According to a press conference held outside the Appling County Courthouse on Tuesday, January 26, one of Baxley’s very own announced candidacy for the Republican Governor seat held by Brian Kemp. Governor Kemp is serving his first term as Governor. Dr. Kandiss Taylor is a Baxley native and is currently employed as an educator with the Appling County Board of Education where she has been for the past 18 years.
Dr. Taylor is the wife of Ryan Taylor who is also an educator, and together, they share three school-aged children. She is passionate about election voting reform, the economy, education, mental health, the working class, fair taxation, small business, gun rights, protecting life, and Georgia Grown.
When asked what made her decide to run, she responded, “We have to have morality over money. Georgia has been in the National News in a negative way for the past several months, which has been embarrassing. I have been asked nonstop after my election in November to run for Governor. After much prayer and discussion with my husband and family, I decided to answer the call to be the leader of my beautiful native state.”
Public service is not new to Dr. Taylor. She has served in a public school system as a 3rd grade teacher, school counselor, testing coordinator, student services coordinator, and homeless liaison. “The welfare, education, and safety of our children is of utmost importance to me. I want to see the focus of our government move to issues that matter and impact our daily life. It’s time to move away from the influence of special interest groups. I’ve been a conservative all of my life. I didn’t just decide to jump on this train. We need integrity that won’t be shaken in these seats,” she said.
Dr. Kandiss Taylor says she is running to give Georgia an option that is conservative, fair, and working class.
