Frigid temperatures hit Appling County hard the past few days. Over the weekend the community witnessed temps in the teens and barely rose above freezing at the height of the warmest part of the day. Busted pipes were witnessed all around town, many at businesses closed for the holidays. Shown above, a local fountain is completely frozen early Monday morning just off City Circle Road in Baxley. The forecast is calling for much better weather this week and we could possibly see daytime temperatures rise to nearly 70 by the weekend, a welcome relief compared to the recent frigid temps.
