Gary Niles Eason, age 72, of Baxley passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Eason was born January 15, 1950 in Bacon County to the late James Ira Eason and the late Elizabeth Lucille McLain Eason. He was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army National Guard. Mr. Eason was a retired electrician with Southern Company at Plant Hatch. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Eason and his brother-in-law, Travis Steedley.
Survivors include his wife Annette Steedley Eason of Baxley; son & daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Nyra Eason of McDonough; sister-in-law, Ann Eason of Baxley; niece, Stephanie (Jim) Horton of Brunswick; and nephews, Trevor Johnson and Jeffery (Andrea) Davis of Baxley. Several other nieces and nephews and several cousins also survive.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. James Minick and Elder Jerry Lightsey officiating and a eulogy by Trevor Johnson. Interment followed in Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were John Robert Miles, Jackson Miles, Elijah Carter, Karson Johnson, Thomas Watson, Cejay Lee, Kegan Lee, and Trevor Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Young at Heart Sunday School Class of Zion Missionary Baptist Church and all fellow retirees of Plant Hatch.
Musical selections were rendered by Zion Missionary Baptist Church Choir.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
