Dr. Starr resigns

Following an open records request to the Appling County Board of Education, The Baxley News-Banner has confirmed that Appling County High School longtime principal Dr. Gene Starr has tendered his resignation to the Appling County Board of Education, effective December 9. In his letter, addressed to Superintendent Dr. Scarlett Copeland, Dr. Starr stated the following:

“It has been my pleasure to have served as the principal of Appling County High School for the last fourteen years. I have had many great experiences, and I have made lasting friendships. I appreciate all of your leadership and support during this time. It is with great sadness that I must resign for ongoing medical reasons.”
