Doug Collins makes stops by newspaper and community

Republican U.S. Senate hopeful and current U.S. Congressman Doug Collins stopped by The News-Banner last week for a visit before attending a local meet-and-greet at the old Youmans Service Station parking lot. He is shown above with Pat Tippett. Collins reported that he has been making his rounds around the state spreading his message. Collins has served as a member of U.S. Congress from the ninth district of Georgia for the past eight years, which is located in the northeastern part of the state. He stated that Georgia needs a fighter and someone who knows the state and he believes he is that person. He is currently running against 21 other candidates in the special election including against Baxley resident republican Kandiss Taylor. Governor Brian Kemp appointed Kelly Loeffler to serve out the remainder of Johnnie Isakson’s term after he resigned in December 2019. This set up a special election for this year’s general election. Collins became well-known throughout the country during the President Trump impeachment hearings for his staunch support for President Trump. Doug is married to Lisa and they have three children.
