A powerful performance

The Appling County High School Pirate Brigade Band honored veterans as part of its halftime performance at Friday’s football game. All veterans present at the game were honored on the field including World War II Veteran Grady Deen. Grady is shown with his son David and great-grandson Cameron during the halftime performace. The band’s show, that has won numerous competitions this year, is a salute to our nation’s veterans and has moved audiences to standing ovations all season. Band Director Jonathan Hickox and the Brigade finished out the regular football season in dramatic fashion by honoring our veterans and concluded the show with a fireworks display. The halftime performance can be viewed on The Baxley News-Banner’s Facebook page.
