Amazing Appling Athletes

After weeks of practice and hard work, the Amazing Appling Athletes will be hitting the field for the first time on April 22. The Bulldogs and the Pirates will meet on the T-ball fields at the Rec Department each Tuesday at 5:30 until May 27.

The Amazing Appling Athletes is a special needs league all about creating happy memories, building friendships, and embracing the love of the game. This inclusive ball league offers an opportunity for participants to enjoy the game of baseball in a supportive and fun environment, no matter their age or ability. Most fall within the ages of 12-22. Teams are divided based on the level of support and accommodation each player may need. Every participant–whether on the field, court, or the sidelines–has the chance to feel like an MVP!

“We’ve just seen the need for it,” said Parks and Recreation director Timmy McGuirt. “I think it’ll get bigger over the years.” Practices have been running smoothly thanks to the support of parents and volunteers.
