On July 1, while executing a search warrant on Wright Drive by Appling County Deputies, K-9 Marcus, Altamaha Drug Task Force and the Baxley Police Department, the following subjects were arrested, Clarence Morris, 50, Clarence Morris, Jr., 17, Alla Jean Morris, 50, and Victor Ramone Morris, 21, all of Baxley. Clarence Morris, Sr. was charged with trafficking cocaine, illegal drugs or marijuana, illegal possession of a controlled substance (marijuana), illegal possession of a controlled substance (powder cocaine) and a parole warrant. Clarence Morris, Jr. was charged with trafficking in cocaine, illegal drugs or marijuana, and VGCSA marijuana. Alla Jean Morris was charged with trafficking in cocaine, illegal drugs or marijuana, and VGCSA. Victor Ramone Morris was charged with VGCSA, trafficking in cocaine, illegal drugs or marijuana, and obstruction of an officer. Taken as evidence were numerous types of drugs, drug related items and U.S. Currency.

Sheriff Benny Deloach would also like to report the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department.

June 25, answered a call to McClure Lane in reference to a dead dog. A complainant stated her neighbor’s dog came to her yard and killed her dog.

June 26, answered a call to Firetower Road in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated doors to her shed were open, her backdoor was open to her residence and stated several prescription drugs were taken. Investigation continues.

June 26, answered a call to Jones Drive in reference to an unresponsive subject. Officers and EMT’s found a Joe L. Jones of Baxley not breathing. Jones died of apparent natural causes. The coroner was notified.

June 27, answered a call to Johns Lane in reference to damage to property. The complainant stated her neighbor’s pit bulldog came into her yard and hurt one of her ducks. Complainant wants the neighbor to pay for duck.

June 27, answered a call to Nails Ferry Road in reference to a domestic. A dispute occurred between a husband, wife and friend. The husband left the residence to settle dispute.

June 27, answered a call to Tanglewood Drive in reference to trespassing. A complainant stated a subject has been throwing trash in her trash container.

June 27, answered a call to Branch Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated a roommate took a Troy-Bilt blower and two sets of wrenches from his residence without his permission. Investigation continues.

June 27, answered a call to Quincy Lane in reference to a theft. The complainant stated that taken from his residence was a Lincoln AC/DC welder valued at $500.00. Investigation continues.

June 28, investigation on Wayne Jones Road of a copper wire theft resulted in the arrest of Christopher Owen Byrne, 27, of Baxley. Byrne was charged with theft by taking.

June 28, answered a call to Highway 144 in reference to a theft. The complainant stated unknown person(s) had stolen several pieces of farm equipment, metal, a lawn mower and wire. During an investigation, Arshie Antwan Paulk, 27, of Baxley was charged with theft by taking in connection with the above theft.

June 28, answered a call to Jekyll Road in reference to an unresponsive subject. Phyllis Cooper, 62, of Baxley was found unresponsive by a family member. Appling EMT’s responded and found no pulse. The coroner was called and stated that Cooper apparently died of natural causes.

June 28, during a routine traffic stop at Joe’s Quick Stop, Nicholas Mondrale Swain, 31, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and two outstanding warrants of VGCSA.

June 28, answered a call to Buckhead road in reference to a dog being hit by a vehicle. The complainant stated a driver in a vehicle ran over his pit bulldog.

June 29, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report a theft. The complainant stated her pocketbook was taken from her vehicle located at the Wal-Mart parking lot. Investigation continues.

June 29, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to a theft. A complainant stated she allowed a family to move into her trailer if they paid the power bill. The family left taking the window air conditioning unit and the power bill was never paid.

June 29, answered a call to Clyde Road in reference to a burglary. Taken from a residence were several items. Identification of the vehicle involved in the theft was given and the vehicle was located at Wal-Mart parking lot. Daniel Braddock, 28, of Hazlehurst, and Jeremy Kyle Scott, 28, of Hazlehurst, were both arrested. Braddock was charged with burglary and possession of tools for the commission of a crime; and Scott was charged with giving false information, driving with a suspended license and taillights required, burglary and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

June 30, answered a call to Ernest Kesler Road in reference to harassing text messages. The complainant stated a subject sent her threatening text messages.

June 30, answered a call to May Lane in reference to damage to property. The complainant stated while she was away from her residence unknown person(s) had thrown a small piece of cement block threw her daughter’s bedroom window. Investigation continues.

June 30, answered a call to Branch Road in reference to harassing phone calls. The complainant stated she received a threatening call.

July 1, answered a call to Ten Mile Road/Lamar Crosby Road in reference to stolen equipment. A complainant stated a company backhoe was parked at the above location June 30. When the complainant returned on July 1 the backhoe was missing. On July 7 investigation revealed the whereabouts of backhoe. The backhoe was recovered and returned to owner.

July 1, answered a call to Prentiss Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated unknown person(s) took several pieces of farm equipment valued at $1,500.00. Investigation continues.

July 1, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report harassment. The complainant stated a subject passed him on the road and came into his lane of travel trying to hit his vehicle.

July 2, answered a call to Post Road in reference to affray. The complainant stated a family member was asked to leave his residence and got mad and started fighting him. The family member had left the residence before the officer arrived.

July 2, answered a call to East River Road in reference to trespass. The complainant stated an unwelcome subject was asked to leave his residence and stated he did not want subject back on his property.

July 3, answered a call to Tim Crosby Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated taken from his shed were some tools, car ramps, a drill, a table saw, an air spray gun and several fishing poles. The complainant stated he believed a family member possibly took the items. Investigation continues.

July 3, answered a call to Max Deen Drive in reference to damage to property. A complainant found that the valve stems were broken on the tires of the complainant’s vehicles; the tires were flat on the vehicles and a flat tire was found on boat trailer. Investigation continues.

July 3, answered a call to Miles Chapel Road in reference to an affray. The fight occurred between two family members. Curtis Willard Butler, 26, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with affray.

July 5, answered a call to Red Dot Road in reference to a domestic. The dispute was between acquaintances. James Cornelius Vann, 25, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

July 6, answered a call to South Main Street in reference to recovered property. An unknown subject left 32 election signs in the complainant’s yard. Signs were brought to sheriff ‘s office and four campaigners were notified that the sheriff’s office had their signs.

July 6, answered a call to Pleasant Hill Church Road in reference to stolen property. An ex-husband took the complainant’s clothes.

July 6, answered a call to Altamaha School Road in reference to damage to property. The complainant stated their neighbor’s pit bull dog killed his small dog. The offender agreed to pay the vet bill and to take care of pit bull.

July 7, answered a call to Hwy. 144 in reference to a theft. A complainant stated unknown person(s) had stolen three hydraulic cylinders and an outrigger valued at approximately $5,000.00. Investigation continues.

July 7, answered a call to Hwy. 144 in reference to a theft. The complainant stated several I-beams were stolen valued at approximately $2,000.00. Investigation revealed items had been stolen for scrap metal. Jason Alan Thornton, 29, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with theft by taking.
