Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department.
On Dec. 15, a routine traffic stop on Hwy. 15 and 203 resulted in the arrest of Kristy Dene Taylor, age 34, of Baxley, Taylor was charged with possession of marijuana.
Dec. 15, a routine traffic stop on Hwy. 15 and 203 resulted in the arrest of Latisha M. Poppell, age 27, of Ludowici, and she was charged with pills not in original container.
Dec. 16, answered a call to Golden Isles West in reference to a burglary. An officer responded to an alarm and upon arrival found a brick had busted the front door to a business. Inside the office, where money was kept, a drawer was pulled out and on the floor. An unknown amount of money was taken from Best Rest Mattress Co. Investigation continues.
Dec. 16, answered a call to Hwy. 144 in reference to a theft. A complainant stated unknown person (s) had stolen three and one/half rolls of wire that was on reels from Rentz Communication. Investigation led to the arrest of Clint Crapps, age 34, of Brunswick. Crapps has been charged with theft by taking.
Dec. 17, a routine traffic stop on Donnie Lewis Lane resulted in the arrest of Kendrick Cooper, age 18, of Baxley, charged with possession of marijuana, less than one ounce and seat belt violation. Cooper has since been released on bond.
Dec. 18, answered a call to West River Road in reference to a domestic dispute. The dispute occurred between two acquaintances. The complainant stated a knife was taken from the offender who ran into the woods. After a brief search, the offender was located. Richard Lee Taylor, age 41, was placed under arrest and charged with Disorderly Conduct.
Dec. 19, answered a call to David Carter Road in reference to possible assault. A complainant stated that an offender was chasing the victim with a shovel. Complainant got the shovel from the offender. The offender left the scene before officers arrived. Complainant was advised to see the magistrate judge.
Dec. 20, answered a call to David Carter Road in reference to a domestic dispute. The dispute was between acquaintances. Tommy Ryan Overstreet, age 35, of Baxley, was placed under arrest and charged with disorderly conduct.
Dec. 20, answered a call to Kyle Stains Road in reference to harassment. A complainant stated that an offender keeps calling and harassing her. Complainant was advised to see the magistrate judge.
Dec. 20, answered a call to Milton Chapel Church Road in reference to shots fired. The complainant stated her children were riding their four wheeler and their dogs went into offender’s yard. Offender shot at the dogs which were close to her children.
Dec. 21, answered a call to David Carter Road in reference to possible drug overdose. The offender stated she was having problems with a boyfriend and was depressed. Offender was transported to Appling County ER for treatment.
Dec. 21, answered a call to Torrance Road in reference to harassment. The complainant stated that her ex-boyfriend keeps calling and harassing her. Complainant was advised to see the magistrate judge.
