Annie Genette Overstreet, 76, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah. Mrs. Overstreet was a native of Appling County and was born Feb. 15, 1933 to the late Jake and Nevada Smith Scott. She was a member of Ephesus Church of God. Mrs. Overstreet was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Talmadge Overstreet, Sr.; a son, David Overstreet and two grandsons, Doug and David Overstreet.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Carroll Dyal of Jacksonville, Fla., Annette and Jamie Smith of Baxley and Debbie and Barry Priester of Jesup; one son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Kathleen Overstreet of Baxley; one sister, Aline Fussell of Hazlehurst; one brother, Johnny Scott of Bristol; grandchildren, Melanie Watson, Jay Dyal, Billy Overstreet, Gary Overstreet, Wayne Priester, Derek Priester, Chat Carter, Mandy Courson and Ashley Carter; great-grandchildren, Bryce and Colby Watson, Hannah and Hank Dyal, Nicholas Overstreet, Brittany Overstreet, Devon and Louren Overstreet and Chase and Faith Priester.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19 at Antioch Congregational Christian Church with the Revs. Ricky McLaughlin and David Hubbs officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Jay Dyal, Billy Overstreet, Wayne Priester, Derek Priester, Chat Carter and Lynn Overstreet.

Honorary pallbearers were all friends in attendance.

Musical selections were rendered by Betty and Jack Griffis.

Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
