Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department.
On December 12, answered a call to Henry Ryals Road in reference to domestic. A girlfriend and boyfriend had an altercation. Stacy Copeland, age 27, of Baxley was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, with warrants pending.
Dec. 13, answered a call to Hatch Parkway in reference to a theft. The complainant stated missing from a storage building was a 225AC welder, red in color valued at approximately $250.00. Investigation revealed the location of the stolen welder and it was recovered on December 16.
Dec. 13, answered a call to Hamm Road in reference to harassment. The complainant stated a subject keeps coming to her residence and harassing her. The subject left the residence and was told by the responding officer not to return.
Dec. 14, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report a theft. Taken from the complainant’s residence was a yellow two wheel trailer with a 12-18 foot disassembled aluminum carport on the trailer, also on the trailer were some fishing rods and a green military tool box with assorted tools. Items stolen were valued at $3,800.00. Investigation continues.
Dec. 14, answered a call to Alfred White Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated two checks had been stolen. Both checks had been made payable to employees and the missing checks totaled $577.64. Investigation continues.
Dec. 15, answered a call to Chad Claxton Road in reference to a possible suicide attempt. A subject punched a mirror cutting her hand and stated she wanted to kill herself. The subject was transported to Appling ER by Appling EMS.
Dec. 15, answered a call to Appling ER in reference to a four-wheeler accident that occurred on George Craven Road. The victim sustained minor injuries.
Dec. 15, answered a call to Acorn Lane in reference to cruelty to animals. The complainant stated that a neighbor had three dogs in a mini-van with no food, water or air to breath. An officer responded and investigation continues.
Dec. 15, answered a call to Appling County Middle School in reference to an assault. School officials stated that an altercation occurred between two juveniles.
One of the juveniles was taken to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office and a Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice officer was notified.
Dec. 15, answered a call to Farm Road, Surrency, in reference to a domestic. The dispute was between a husband and an estranged wife.
Dec. 16, answered a call at Ephesus Church on Highway 15 South in reference to an assault. Elbert Peeples, age 42, Ronny Peeples, age 54, Trica Ann Peeples, age 38, and Rocky Angelo Peeples, age 56, all of Baxley, were arrested. Elbert Peeples was charged with simple battery and preventing or disrupting lawful meetings/gatherings. Ronny Peeples was charged with disorderly conduct and preventing or disrupting lawful meetings/gatherings. Trica Ann Peeples was charged with obstruction of an officer. Rocky Angelo Peeples was charged with obstruction of an officer and driving without license.
Dec. 17, Appling County Sheriff’s Deputies recovered a four-wheeler that was stolen from Toombs County. A Toombs County investigator was notified and the four-wheeler was picked up by the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office and was returned to the owner. An arrest has been made in this case.
Dec. 17, answered a call to Acorn Lane in reference to a theft. The complainant stated someone came into his unlocked residence and stole a carton of cigarettes and $20.00 in cash. Damaged was a lock box. The complainant thought he knew who had stolen the items. Investigation continues.
Dec. 17, answered a call to Surrency Food Mart in reference to a gas-drive off. An employee reported a grey SUV pumped $71.00 worth of gas using an invalid card and drove off without paying. Investigation continues.
Dec. 18, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office and stated he knew the where abouts of a stolen Freightliner truck. Deputies along with complainant went to Jimmie Ree Lane, Bristol, and recovered a stolen 2000 Freightliner. The Butts County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the recovery. The owner of the Freightliner is Trucks Inc., of Jackson.
