The Commissioners opened bids for three rear wheel drive vehicles for the Appling County Sheriff’s department. The bids came from Cothern-Varnadore for $26,499.00 for each 2010 Chevy Tahoe; Sapp Ford for $21,045.00 for each police pursuant vehicles and $21,500.00 from LaPrade Government Vehicle Sales for each vehicle. The Commissioners all voted to accept the apparent best and lowest bid after investigation into the bids by County Manager Lee Lewis and Appling County Sheriff Benny DeLoach.
Lewis informed the Commissioners that there are some changes to the county landfill that must be completed by January. The two deficiencies are to add some drain pipe and grass to areas to prevent erosion. Lewis asked the Commissioners to approve the purchase of the drain pipes which was estimated to cost no more than $3,500.00. The motion was approved with all commissioners voting in favor.
