Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Department.

On Sept. 24, answered a call to Dogpen Road off Old Surrency Road in reference to a log truck rolling over. Reportedly, the driver went to sleep and slid into a ditch. No injuries were reported.

Sept. 25, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report a theft. The complainant stated his employee used the company credit card to purchase various items. Derrick Allen Clark, age 26, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with financial transaction card fraud and parole violation.

Sept. 26, answered a call to Quincy Lane in reference to a domestic dispute. The acquaintances got into an altercation. No arrest was made.

Sept. 29, answered a call to Alpine Drive in reference to a disturbance. The resident alleged a rape occurred. Investigation revealed false information was given. Chastity M. Whitfield, age 35, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with false statements. Whitfield has been released on bond.

Sept. 30, answered a call to Stone Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A husband and wife had an argument.

Oct. 1, answered a call to Ga. Hwy. 15/Hoppy Trail in reference to a vehicle fire. The victim’s vehicle front tire blew out and was on fire which then caught the vehicle on fire. The vehicle was completely destroyed by fire. No injury was reported.

Oct. 1, answered a call on George Craven Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A boyfriend and girlfriend had an altercation. The boyfriend stated $500.00 worth of damage was done to his residence.

Oct. 2, answered a call to Golden Isle West in reference to damage to property. The subject stated while traveling down highway he hit a roll of wire lying in the roadway doing damage to his vehicle.

Oct. 2, answered a call to Lewis Sead Road in reference to a domestic dispute. The altercation was between a husband and wife.
