Deputies have extremely busy week

Sheriff Benny Deloach reports the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department.

On Sept. 13, answered a call to Hoppy Trail in reference to a theft. A complainant let a friend borrow some fishing gear and when the property was returned, $50.00 worth of lures were missing.

Sept. 18, answered a call to Scott Drive in reference to a burglary. A vehicle was parked in a yard and unknown person(s) broke out the back glass and took some prescription drugs from inside the vehicle. Investigation continues.

Sept. 18, answered a call to McDaniel Road in reference to an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was left on the roadway in an unsafe condition, which could cause an accident. The vehicle was moved from roadway.

Sept. 18, answered a call to Pretty Ford Road in reference to threats. A complainant stated that a person had threatened to kill him and he had this message on his cell phone. Investigation continues.

Sept. 19, a routine traffic stop on U.S. 1 North resulted in the arrest of John Michael Thomas, age 27, of Farmington Hills, MI. Thomas was charged with VGCSA/marijuana, driving while license withdrawn, speeding, no insurance and counterfeit money.

Sept. 19, answered a call to Alpine Drive in reference to a burglary. Taken from a residence was a Dell Computer. Investigation continues.

Sept. 20, answered a call to Hunter Road in reference to a domestic. An altercation occurred between subjects that lived together. Adam Freddie Moore, age 41, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

Sept. 20, answered a call to Addie Lane in reference to trespass. Someone went to a complainant’s residence and broke several fishing rods valued at $250.00. The complainant recently divorced.

Sept. 20, a routine traffic stop on Brobston and Harvey Streets resulted in the arrest of Darius Lee Holton, age 17, of Alma. Holton was charged with possession of controlled substance (marijuana), seatbelt violation and expired vehicle tag. Brandon Tyrell Davis, age 17, of Hinesville, was also arrested and charged with illegal possession of controlled substance (marijuana). Randall M. Byrd, age 19, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with possession of alcohol by a minor, illegal possession of controlled substance (marijuana). Also arrested were Antobius Chandler, age 17, and Christopher Noble, age 17, both of Alma, and charged with illegal possession of controlled substance (marijuana).

Sept. 20, answered a call to Max Deen Drive in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated after returning home from a visit she tried to use her phone and found the phone line had been cut. Nothing else in the residence had been disturbed.

Sept. 20, answered a call to April Lane in reference to a burglary. Taken from a residence was jewelry valued at $431.00. Investigation continues.

Sept. 20, answered a call to Jekyll Road in reference to a theft. Taken from a vehicle was a wheelchair. Also several months earlier taken from a shelter at the residence was a wet/shop vacuum. Investigation continues.

Sept. 20, a routine traffic stop on Zoar/Buckhead Road resulted in the arrest of Weston Miles Tomberlin, age 18, of Surrency. Tomberlin was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug related object, and illegal possession of a controlled substance. James Daniel Spencer, age 18, of Baxley, was also arrested and charged with failure to drive within a single lane, DUI /drugs/alcohol, possession of marijuana, and possession of a drug related object.

Sept. 22, answered a call to Ten Mile Highway in reference to a theft. Dustin Stewart Campbell, age 20, and Thomas Alvin Leggett, age 21, both of Baxley were both arrested and charged with firearm possession by convicted felon and theft by taking.

Sept. 22, answered a call to Hwy. 144 in reference to a damage to property. A complainant stated an unknown person(s) keyed her vehicle.

Sept. 22, answered a call to East Parker Street in reference to harassment. A complainant stated that her sister she had not talked to in four years came to her place of employment harassing her.

Sept. 22, a routine traffic stop on Donnie Lane and Jones Streets resulted in the arrest of Ladonna S. Vann, age 23, of Baxley. Vann was charged with taillights required, VGCSA and illegal possession of a controlled substance. Also, the passenger of the vehicle, Kenneth James, age 24, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with VGCSA, and probation violation.

Sept. 22, answered a call to McDaniel Road in reference to a domestic dispute. Some acquaintances were having a verbal dispute. The complainant asked that his friend stay away from his property.

Sept. 23, during the process of moving inmates from the Appling County Detention Center to the Appling County Court House, Maria Teresa Galvan, age 30, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct for interfering with movement of an inmate.

Sept. 23, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report a theft. Taken from the county building at Falling Rocks was a 10,000 BTU air condition unit from the window. Also the front door and window frame was damaged. Investigation continues.

Sept. 24, a routine traffic stop at the intersection of Quail Hollow and County Farm Roads resulted in the arrest of Kelly Randa Arredondo, age 28, of Baxley. Arredondo was charged with DUI/drugs/alcohol, and warrants pending.

Sept. 24, answered a call to Altamaha School in reference to harassment. A complainant stated a person keeps threatening to fight him.

Sept. 25, answered a call to Linton Carter Road in reference to threats. A girlfriend and boyfriend got into a verbal dispute. The girlfriend threatened to burn the boyfriend’s house.

Sept. 25, answered a call to Golden Isle West in reference to damage to property. The complainant stated he stayed at a friend’s house and returned to his vehicle and found that it had been vandalized. All four tires had been cut and the left side of the truck was scratched. Investigation continues.
