Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.

Aug. 26, answered a call to Dana Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated taken from residence was a Smith & Wesson .38 caliber stainless steel pistol and a set of white gold wedding rings. Upon investigation it was revealed that a family member had pawned them at a local pawn shop. The complainant did not want to press charges at this time.

Aug. 28, answered a call to Cook Street in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated that an unknown person has damaged his vehicle.

Aug. 29, answered a call to Red Dot Road in reference to harassing phone calls. The complainant stated her brother’s girlfriend leaves threatening messages on her phone.

Aug. 29, answered a call to Pickett Road in reference to loud music disturbance. After a second response to the above residence Salvadore Paniagua, age 46, of Baxley, was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Aug. 30, answered a call to Sellers Road in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated an unknown person pushed in the front door and stole a Dell Lap top computer, DVD Player, a Play Station with two controllers, Nintendo Game Cube with three controllers, and two Rockford Fosgate 10” speakers. Total value of items $1,930.00. Investigation continues.

Aug. 31, Appling EMS and Appling Deputy responded to Satilla Church Road in response to an unresponsive person. Upon arrival Dorine C. Nash, age 79, of Baxley, was found to have died of apparent natural causes. Appling County Coroner was notified and case was turned over to the coroner.

Aug. 31, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a theft. The complainant stated taken from her residence was a small safe containing $50.00, a diamond ring with cluster, a diamond necklace and personal medications. Investigation continues.

Aug. 31, Appling County Deputies responded to a call on Crosby Road in reference to person unresponsive. The Appling EMS was at the scene and stated Frances Thornton, age 48, of Baxley, was dead on arrival. Appling County Coroner was notified and case was turned over to the coroner.

Sept. 1, answered a call to Appling ER in reference to an affray. Upon arrival deputy found two subjects to have been in a fight, both with lacerations. Both subjects were given disorderly conduct citations and summons to court.

Sept. 1, deputies went to Sam Hall Road to serve a probation warrant. Joshua Byron Courson, age 31, of Baxley, was arrested for a probation violation. Also found in the residence were suspected drugs and drug related objects. Ashley Nicole Newsome, age 21, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with possession of a schedule #2 drug and possession of drug related objects.

Sept. 1, answered a call to Blackshear Hwy in reference to harassing phone calls. The complainant stated subject keeps calling and threatening her. While on the scene the deputy had subject call complainant. Both parties stated they had worked out their problem.

Sept. 2, answered a call to James Kent Road in reference to harassing phone call. A complainant stated subject called his residence making threats against him.
