Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
On July 31, answered a call to Cleve White Road in reference to a domestic dispute. The altercation occurred between acquaintances. Kenneth Lamar Jones, age 20, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.
July 31, a routine traffic stop on Dunn’s Lake Road resulted in the arrest of Christopher S. Medlin, age 40, of Statesboro. Medlin was charged with simple possession of marijuana and no insurance.
July 31, a routine traffic stop on Brobston Street resulted in the arrest of Stephanie Ann Hall, age 22, of Baxley. Hall was charged with fleeing, attempting to elude police officer, simple possession of marijuana, driving w/o license, failure to stop at stop sign and reckless driving.
July 31, answered a call to Earl Cauley Road in reference to an affray. The fight occurred between family members.
Aug. 1, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to a reckless driver. A complainant stated while walking dog, a vehicle came down road at a high rate of speed almost hitting her. The vehicle was found at a trailer park but no one knew who was driving the vehicle.
Aug. 1, answered a call to Cauley Road in reference to damage to property. A mailbox was run over by a white Ford pickup with blue stripe down the side. Investigation continues.
Aug. 2, answered a call to Manning Williams Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated her son had six baby chickens and a neighbor took one of the chicks.
Aug. 2, answered a call to Lee Woods Road in reference to a domestic dispute. The altercation occurred between an ex-husband and wife. The ex-husband had left the residence before officer arrived.
Aug. 3, answered a call to Graham Zoar Road in reference to a theft. Taken from a resident’s shelter was a Craftsman 17 H.P. 42” grey riding lawnmower. Investigation continues.
Aug. 3, answered a call to Buckhead Road in reference to damage to property. A watermelon box fell off a vehicle hitting residence trashcan doing damaging to it.
Aug. 3, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report an assault that occurred in Graham. The complainant and an acquaintance were in an altercation. The complainant stated the acquaintance pulled a gun on him also. A hearing is to be held at the magistrate office in reference to incident.
Aug. 3, answered a call to Baxley Wilderness Institute in reference to a juvenile complaint. An unruly juvenile was turned over to juvenile justice worker, Chad Kent.
Aug. 4, answered a call to Jones Street in reference to an assault. A complainant stated he was showing offender how to use a cell phone. The offender got mad and hit the complainant in the face. The complainant stated offender is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s.
Aug. 4, answered a call to John’s Lane in reference to a burglary. The back door to the residence was kicked open. Taken from residence were a 40” Toshiba Flat screen T.V., Sunpro 26” flat screen T.V., four DVD’s, X-Box, two gold rope chains, four diamond rings, one heart shaped diamond necklace, two cordless phones, one cell phone, one pair of opal ear rings, clothes and food. The items were valued at $3,719.00. Investigation continues.
Aug. 4, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to threats. A complainant stated an individual keeps calling his residence day and night.
Aug. 5, answered a call to Golden Isle West in reference to a theft. Missing from the residence was an engagement ring valued at $4,000.00. Investigation continues.
Aug. 6, Complainant came to sheriff’s office to report a missing cell phone at Old Blackshear Highway, valued at $465.00. Investigation continues.
Aug. 6, answered a call to Graham City Hall in reference to a fight. The
altercation occurred between acquaintances at the Graham City Council meeting.
Aug. 8, answered a call to Graham Zoar Road in reference to a possible D.O.A. Upon arrival by Appling County Deputy, Ms. Nancy Boyd Seward, age 59, of Graham, was found to have died from apparent natural causes. Appling EMS responded and Coroner George O’Quinn was notified. No foul play was suspected.
