Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department.
On Oct. 5, answered a call to Evans Lane in reference to a theft. A complainant stated that his/her brother borrowed some farm equipment and would not return the barrowed items.
Oct. 5., answered a call to Red Oak Road in reference to cruelty to animals. The complainant stated she found her dog to be shot, and her neighbor had threatened to fix the dog if not kept at home.
Oct. 6, answered a call to Lake Mayers Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated that her son had been breaking into her house and stealing change and had taken a checkbook. Complainant was advised to see magistrate judge.
Oct. 7, answered a call to Satilla Church Road in reference to a one-vehicle accident. An Owl flew into a car mirror doing damage to vehicle. No injuries were reported.
Oct. 8, answered a call to Christian Springs Church Road in reference to a house fire. A rental house was burned to the ground; no one was in the residence at the time of the fire. The State Fire Marshal was called to investigate.
Oct. 8, while deputies were attempting to execute a warrant on Hwy. #144, they recovered a vehicle that had been reported stolen. State Farm Insurance Company was notified on the whereabouts of vehicle.
Oct. 8, answered a call to Rogers Street in reference to domestic dispute. The dispute was between acquaintances. The responding officer asked one of the parties to leave the residence.
Oct. 8, answered a call to Satilla Church Road in reference to a domestic dispute. The dispute was between a husband and wife. The wife left the residence.
Oct. 9, answered a call to the Tri-County Fair Grounds in reference to harassment. The harassment occurred between an ex-husband and wife.
Oct. 9, answered a call to Ga. Hwy. 4 North in reference to a hit and run vehicle accident. A pedestrian was on a bicycle crossing the road when a truck struck the bicycle. The pedestrian was taken to Appling ER. The vehicle left the scene of the accident. Investigation continues.
Oct. 10, a complainant came to Appling County Detention Center to report an assault. The complainant stated offenders attacked her after they had gotten into and argument. Complainant was advised to see the magistrate judge.
Oct. 10, answered a call to Industrial Road/Hwy. 144 in reference to a vehicle fire. The complainant advised when driving vehicle up to intersection a ball of fire came out from under the hood and vehicle exploded into fire. The Baxley Fire Department responded and put the fire out.
Oct. 10, answered a call to W. River Road in reference to a domestic dispute.The dispute was between acquaintances. Complainant was advised to see magistrate judge.
Oct. 10, answered a call to Asbury Church Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated person(s) unknown ran through his fence to his horse pen. Investigation continues.
Oct. 12, answered a call to VFW Club in reference to an assault. The complainant stated she got into the truck with someone to get out of the rain and was assaulted. Complainant was advised to see the magistrate judge.
Oct. 12, answered a call to Ashley Drive in reference to threats. The complainant stated an acquaintance keeps making harassing phone calls and threats. Complainant was advised to see the magistrate judge.
Oct. 12, answered a call to the Hospital Parking lot in reference to a fight. A complainant stated there was an altercation between her and the offender. When officers arrived the offender had left the scene. Complainant was advised to see the magistrate judge.
