Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department.
On June 26, answered a call to Iris Lane in reference to a theft. Complainant stated unknown person (s) went into his storage building and stole several items valued at $2,440.00.
June 27, answered a call to Nails Ferry and A.P. Hunter Road in reference to a possible pedestrian under the influence. Earl Lee Addis Williams, age 59, of Baxley was arrested and charged with pedestrian under the Influence.
June 28, answered a call to Lake Mayers in reference to a swimming accident. Upon arrival a witness stated the victim attempted to dive off the public beach area, and slipped backwards striking his head against the rocks. Victim was conscious and had a laceration to the back of head. Victim was transported by Appling EMS to the Appling ER.
June 29, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to harassing phone calls. A girlfriend stated a boyfriend had been calling her phone, he stated he had not.
June 29, answered a call to Old Ben Carter Road in reference to a theft. Taken from behind a residence was a Poulan 500 push lawn mower valued at approximately $250.00. Investigation continues.
June 30, answered a call to Golden Isles East, in reference to a gas drive off. An employee of Parkers Store stated an unknown person pumped $15.00 worth of gas and drove off without paying.
June 30, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report a theft that occurred on Iirs Lane. Complainant stated he had left a large amount of money in an envelope inside his vehicle while going inside the residence of a friend. When returning to the vehicle, the money was gone. Investigation continues.
July 1, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report inappropriate communication with a minor. The complainant stated someone sent her daughter a message over the internet threatening her.
July 1, answered a call to Hatch Parkway South in reference to a theft. Reported stolen from residence was a 1997 Polaris Express 400 Sportsman, blue in color with red stripes on the side. Approximate value is $2,500.00. Investigation continues.
July 1, deputies assisted Georgia State Patrol Officer Pam Thrift on a home inspection at Milton Sellers Road in Graham, which resulted in the arrest of John Wesley Smith III, age 39, of Baxley. Smith was charged with parole violation, possession of marijuana, VGCSA crack cocaine, drug related objects, and cruelty to children.
July 3, answered a call to Nail Mobley Road in reference to a disturbance. A subject was riding a four-wheeler in his peanut field to check for deer and was shining lights in a neighbor’s house. Neighbor came out of house to see who was shining lights.
July 3, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to an affray. Upon officer arrival, victim stated unknown person(s) had jumped on him beating him in the face. Victim could not identify the offender.
