Dear Editor,

One of Baxley’s own, Spc. Ben White, an Army National Guardsman and son of Ivan and Cynthia White, of Baxley, was recently involved in a terrible accident in Tennessee. After returning from a one-year tour in Iraq on April 28, Ben was in a semi-truck accident on May 11 in Chattanooga, TN.

The accident happened on Eagle Mountain when the brakes went out in the semi-truck that Ben was riding in, overturned and caught fire. Ben was not able to get out of the truck immediately and received third degree burns on a vast majority of his body. He was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN, where he is in the burn unit fighting for his life.

Currently his parents are staying at the hospital with him and living in a hotel room. They are in need of some financial assistance to help pay for the hotel room and food expenses. Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated. We ask that you keep Ben (B.J.) White and our family in your prayers.

Thank you,

The White Family
