Die Dan Die is a local five member hard metal band and they have recently made a new recording of a three song demo and are hitting the streets with their hardcore sound. The five members are Brandon Jackson, bass; Scott Connor, guitarist; Cody Bell, vocals; Phillip Barwick, bassist and Dusty Ray, second guitarist. They got the idea for the name from the comedy movie Ace Ventura, Pet Detective, as “die Dan die” was a quote from the movie. The name also meant the band was still doing their comedy style of lyrics. In April 2009 the band traveled to Jacksonville, Fla. and recorded a three song demo entitled Teatherball Chronicles Pt. 1 at SDR studios. Shortly after the demo was recorded Dusty Ray joined the band as a second guitarist.

The band has evolved over the past five years and has went through several changes of names and members since its conception. Some of the original members have left to pursue other interests and some new members have joined. From the very beginning in January of 2005 the band was originally called Sixty Seconds Previous and was a four member band consisting of Tommy Butler on drums, Brandon Jackson on bass, Brock Jackson on guitar, and Cody Bell on vocals. In late 2005 Tommy left and was replaced on drums by bassist Brandon Jackson, and in early 2006 Scott joined the band as the second guitarist.

The four members recorded their first three songs e.p. When in Rome in May of 2006 with producer Chuck Hutchison. In Sept. of 2006 they recorded again with Hutchison and released their nine song full length album (Is that a knife in my back, or are you just happy to leave me). In January 2007 the band moved to Atlanta to get closer to a good music scene. After only four months in Atlanta they recorded their third album Dead by Dawn with Atlanta area producer Matt Washburn of Led Belly Sound. Dead by Dawn was very different from the other two albums both in sound and in what the message the band was trying to get across. The previous songs were about typical heartaches and painful relationship breakups. Dead by Dawn was the band’s first attempt at a more relaxed lyrical album. Because of the new sound and a new area the band was playing out of they decided it was time for the band to have a new name and the name Woe Unto Josephine was born.

In the latter part of 2007 the band moved back to Baxley and continued playing shows as often as possible and promoting their music every chance they got.

The year 2008 brought yet another change to the band when guitarist Brock Jackson quit the band in pursuit of other things. Shortly after Brock left, Phillip Barwick, of Surrency, joined the band. They are back in Baxley and hope to be doing this for many years to come. Due to respect for former band member Brock Jackson the band’s name was changed to Die Dan Die.
