Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department.

May 22, answered a call to Mae Lane in reference to a burglary. An unknown person(s) took from a shed a Cummings 5000 watt generator, four tires and rims for a Firebird car. Items were valued at approximately $1,300.00. Investigation continues.

May 22, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report forgery. The complainant stated her checkbook was taken from her residence and checks had been written on her account. Investigation resulted in the arrest of Julia Marie Paige, age 28, of Baxley. Paige was charged with forgery in the first degree.

May 22, answered a call to Ellis Jones Lane in reference to a domestic disturbance. Joseph David Thorhaug, age 18, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

May 23, answered a call to Cauley Road in reference to a civil dispute. The dispute was between a husband and wife that are separated. The wife took a washing machine, dryer and a 37" flat screen TV from the residence.

May 24, answered a call to Ben Carter Road in reference to a theft. Taken from an owner’s shop were two Dodge transmissions. Investigation continues.

May 24, answered a call to Graham Zoar Road in reference to a domestic. The altercation was between a husband and wife. Van Junior Walker, age 43, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with simple battery and cruelty to children.

May 26, answered a call to Lightsey Boyette Road, Bristol, in reference to a theft. The complainant stated he thought his brother had his four-wheeler but when checking with his brother he stated he did not have it. The four-wheeler is a 1997 red Honda 300 Four Trax valued at $2,500.00. Investigation continues.

May 26, a routine traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Steven Dane Fletcher, age 38, of Baxley. Fletcher was charged with driving while license suspended, speeding, and fleeing or attempting to elude an officer.

May 26, answered a call to Gardner Road in reference to attempted suicide. Victim was found by her husband unresponsive. Appling EMS responded and victim was taken to the Appling HealthCare Emergency Unit.

May 26, answered a call to Piney Bluff Road in reference to domestic dispute. The dispute was between a husband and wife. Gloria Diane Bass, age 41, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

May 27, answered a call to Golden Isles East in reference to a theft. A complainant stated that person (s) unknown had stolen a Compaq brand computer (laptop) valued at $900.00. Investigation continues.

May 27, answered a call to Deen’s Landing Road in reference to a domestic. An altercation was between acquaintances. Amanda Leigha Hummel, age 20, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

May 28, answered a call to Hunter Road in reference to a suicide attempt. The victim was taken to Appling EMS for evaluation.
