Sheriff Deloach gives weekly report 5-27-09

Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department.

On May 14, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report forgery. A husband and wife separated. Husband opened a new checking account and wife wrote several checks on husband’s account. The husband closed account.

May 14, during a routine traffic stop on Brobston and Harvey Street resulted in the arrest of Michael Donnell Jordan, Jr., age18, of Baxley. Jordan was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.

May 15, answered a call to Brown Street in reference to a domestic. The altercation occurred between a father and daughter, which resulted in the arrest of Alfred Charles Taylor, age 63, of Baxley. Taylor was charged with battery.

May 16, a routine traffic stop on West Parker Street resulted in the arrest of Austin Blake Higgins, age 18, Kasey Lashawn Rogers, age 19, and Matthew Aaron Pate age 17, all of Baxley. Higgins and Pate were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. Rogers was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, DUI, and failure to drive within single lane.

May 16, answered a call to Max Deen Drive in reference to a theft. Taken from a Ski Natique Boat was a stereo system with speakers valued at approximately $1,200.00. Investigation continues.

May 18, answered a call to Donnie Lane in reference to battery. A girlfriend and boyfriend started arguing and the argument escalated in into an altercation. John Edward Thomas Jr., age 19, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with simple battery.

May 19, while on patrol officers attempted to apprehend a subject for outstanding warrants. The offender failed to comply with officers. Andrea D. Reynolds (offender) was arrested and charged with fleeing, speeding, failure to maintain lane, driving on wrong side of road, and obstruction. Reynolds is being held awaiting bond.
