Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department.
On May 6, answered a call to Red Oak Road in reference to a domestic. The altercation was between a brother and sister.
May 7, answered a call to County Farm Road in reference to damage to vehicle. The tire on a vehicle came apart and did damage to vehicle.
May 8, answered a call to South Main Street in reference to criminal trespass. An offender wrote obscene language on the back window of a complainant’s vehicle. The offender washed the vehicle window. The complainant and offender came to an agreement.
May 9, answered a call to U.S. Hwy. 1 South in reference to a theft. Approximately 90 bales of unbaled pine straw and box baler were taken. Inacinio Ramirez, age 19, and German Ramirez, age 22, both of Baxley were arrested and charged with theft by taking.
May 10, answered a call to Poor Robin Road in reference to damage to property. Unknown person(s) shot a sign that was located on private property doing damage to it. Investigation continues.
May 11, answered a call to Citgo in Graham in reference to a theft. Taken from a parked Asplundh truck was a 575 Huskvarna Bar Saw 24", a 570 Huskvarna Bar Saw 20" a pole saw, and a pair of climbing hooks valued at approximately $2,100.00. On May 13, Justin Wade Taylor, age 25, of Nichols, was arrested and charged with theft by taking in connection with the above incident.
May 11, answered a call to Red Dot Road in reference to a theft. Taken from a parked vehicle at a residence were a pocket book with approximately $60.00, a checkbook, several cards and miscellaneous items. The complainant was advised to have checking account closed. Investigation continues.
May 11, answered a call to Golden Isles West in reference to a burglary. A security company notified an employee that there was movement in the front office in a place of business. Upon arrival by the employee, an unknown person exited the rear shop area ran across the back yard and jumped a fence. Investigation continues.
May 11, answered a call to Sycamore Lane in reference to a stolen/missing dog. The complainant stated that the dog is an American Stafford Shire Terrier blue in color with a small amount of white valued at $500.00.
May 11, answered a call to Clyde Road in reference to damage to property. The window to a vehicle was broken and the owner of vehicle thought it was possibly shot out because a blueberry field was close by where cannons were shot to scare birds from blueberry fields. These type of cannons used to scare birds and make a loud noise only. Extreme heat may have been the cause of the broken window. Investigation continues.
May 12, answered a call to Acorn Lane in reference to a burglary. An unknown person gained entry into a residence by throwing a brick through a bedroom window. Taken was a safe containing $800.00, an assortment of jewelry worth $1,500.00 and personal items such as social security cards and birth certificates. Investigation continues.
May 12, a routine traffic stop on Bay Street and Blueberry Street resulted in the arrest of Britany Cherie Crosby, age 19, Michelle Brook Vaughn, age 19, and Christy Mae Wood, age 21, all of Baxley, were arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana. All have been released on bond.
May 13, answered a call to Cooper Road, Surrency, in reference to a theft/dispute. The dispute was between two contract owners of baling pine straw. Property was sold and both parties believed they had the right to bale the pine straw.
May 14, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report abuse. A mother stated her son steals her medication and threatens her if she doesn’t let him have them.
May 14, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report a theft/forgery. The complainant stated two females came to his house for a visit. The next day the complainant found that his checkbook was missing. Several days later it was discovered that a missing check had been forged on the complainant’s account. Investigation continues.
May 15, answered a call to Alvin Moody Road in reference to harassing phone calls/texts. The complainant had received several obscene texts from husband’s ex-girlfriend.
