Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department.

On April 25, answered a call to Hwy. 144, Surrency, in reference to damage to property. Approximately 25 goats were killed by neighbor’s bulldogs.

April 25, answered a call to Wayne Jones Road in reference to an attempted suicide. The EMS responded and took the victim to the Appling Emergency Room.

April 25, answered a call to Blackshear Road in reference to a domestic dispute. Kenneth Carol Spell, age 51, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

April 26, answered a call to West Parker Street in reference to missing property. The complainant stated she left her handbag in a buggy at Wal-Mart parking lot. Upon returning to the parking lot she found the bag was gone. All credit cards were cancelled.

April 26, answered a call to Gardner Road in reference to criminal trespass. Ken Smith, age 51, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass and simple battery. Also two juveniles were written citations which were turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

April 27, answered a call to Johns Lane in reference to harassing phone calls. A complainant stated person(s) keep texting threats to her family and threatening to come to her residence and harm them. Investigation continues.

April 27, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a forgery/theft. The complainant stated the bank mailed his personal checks to a mobile home park address (his address) and someone got his checks and forged a $450.00 check on his account. The complainant closed account. Investigation continues.

April 27, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a property dispute. The complainant stated she and her husband are separated and while she was out of town he went to her residence and took her Altman English Bulldog valued at $650.00.

April 27, answered a call to Quincey Lane in reference to cruelty to animals. The owner of the animals was told to take the dogs to the veterinarian to be put to sleep.

April 28, a routine traffic stop on Hwy. 341 West resulted in the arrest of Richard Roberson, Jr., age 18, of Baxley and Brittany Crosby, age 19, of Baxley, both were charged with simple possession of marijuana.

April 29, answered a call to Hwy. 341 East in reference to a theft. A complainant stated that about 600 bales of pine straw were stolen valued at $1,400.00. Investigation continues.

April 29, answered a call to Ga. Hwy. 144 in reference to an abandon vehicle. The responding officer saw a subject coming to the vehicle with a gallon of gas. A vehicle check revealed that it was stolen. Leman Phillips, age 59, of Welford ,S.C., was arrested and charged with false statements, and affixing license plate with intent to commit.

April 29, a routine traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Victoria Mariz Chancey, age 29, of Baxley. Chancey was charged with simple possession of marijuana. Also in connection with this stop Appling County Sheriff’s is on the lookout for Dorrell Green, age 33, of Odum. Please contact the Appling County Sheriff’s Office if you know of his where abouts.

April 29, answered a call to Nails Ferry Road in reference to a theft. Taken from a residence was an orange Polaris four-wheeler. Investigation continues.

April 30, Appling County Sheriff’s office assisted ADTF Agents in executing a search warrant on Henry Ryals Road in Baxley which resulted in the arrest of three subjects. Michelle D. Hall, age 30, of Baxley, Angelee Sailem, age 29, of Baxley and Deanglo Perry Smith, age 25, of Jesup were charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana.

April 30, answered a call to Gardner Road in reference to damage to property. The windows were broken out of a John Deere 2006 LE excavator. The value of the damage is approximately $1,500.00. Investigation continues.
