Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department.

April 9, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report a theft. The complainant stated someone had taken some old tin from his property. George Paulk, age 64, of Baxley, was arrested for theft and has since been release on bond.

April 10, answered a call to Chad Claxton Street in reference to a theft. The complainant stated person (s) unknown had stolen jewelry valued at $475.00 from her vehicle. Investigation continues.

April 10, answered a call to County Farm Road in reference to a fight. The complainant stated some friends were play fighting which resulted in more serious fighting. The offenders had left the scene when officers arrived.

April 11, answered a call to Surrency Food Mart in reference to a fight. Gabrielle A. Fletcher, age 22, of Jacksonville, FL, and Geri Dawnielle Dicker, age 22, of Surrency, were both arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Both subjects have since been released.

April 12, answered a call to Surrency in reference to a domestic. The dispute was between a husband and wife. Freda Devereaux, age 51, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

April 12, a routine traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Joseph H. Sullivan, age 19, of Buckhead. Sullivan was arrested and charged with simple possession of marijuana and drug related object.

April 12, answered a call to Mae Lane in reference to a domestic. The dispute occurred between two acquaintances. Richard Paul Hill, age 44, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

April 12, a routine traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Brian Ashley Thornton, age 35, of Patterson, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, carrying a concealed weapon, and defective equipment.

April 13, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report harassing phone calls. The complainant stated while on a trip out of state several obscene calls were received on her cell phone. Investigation revealed a juvenile from Wayne County made the calls. The juvenile was advised not to make any more calls or charges could be filed.

April 14, answered a call to the Altamaha River in reference to lost property. The complainant stated he was testing his boat when the motor quit running and was being towed, the boat took on water and sank.

April 14, answered a call to Tupelo Circle in reference to littering. The complainant stated his neighbors threw trash on his property. DNR arrived on the scene and officers warned all parties involved.

April 15, an on going investigation with DFAC’s revealed child cruelty. Warrants were obtained for the arrest of Stephen Courson, age 52, and Becky Stone Courson age 38, both of Baxley. At present both subjects are being sought after. If anyone has any information on the where abouts on these individuals please contact the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.

April 16, answered a call to Red Dot Motel in reference to a missing person. On arrival an officer found a suspected marijuana plant growing in a five-gallon bucket. The plant was taken to Appling County Sheriff’s Office to be tested. The owner unknown at this time but investigation continues.

April 16, answered a call to Wisteria Lane in reference to a domestic dispute. A husband and wife had a verbal dispute. Roberto Bautista, age 31, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

April 16, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report gang activity. The complainant gave information to the sheriff’s office concerning a gang by the name of “Folks”. If you suspect that your child is involved in gang activity you need to report it. If you want more information on “gangs” check the following website, www.gangsorus.com.
