Family dispute leads to murder
According to Sheriff Benny Deloach, Appling County 911 received a call at 2:15 a.m. on March 26, in reference to a man that had been injured at 51 Henry Ryals Road, Baxley. Investigation revealed that Erin Lathadeus Myers, age 26, had been stabbed and was dead on arrival at the Appling HealthCare System.
At the time of the original press release no arrests were made but Sheriff Deloach advised that law enforcement was seeking a person of interest in the case, Thaddeus Laphil Nails, half brother to Myers.
On March 30, at 2:35 p.m., Nails turned himself in to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office and he was later charged with murdering his half brother Erin Myers. Nails will be held in the Appling County Detention Center until a trial can be held. Sheriff Deloach would like to thank the U.S. Marshals Service for their efforts in the search for Nails.
