The Appling County Board of Education (BOE) held its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, March 9 at the board office. The meeting began at 7:00 p.m.
Winton Herrin, Chief Operations Officer, presented information about the building project near the new softball field and tennis courts that had been previously discussed at prior meetings. Herrin stated that after talking to the contractor, that is currently working on the new tennis courts and softball field near Appling County High School, he was able to get the proposed cost of the structure down to $249,460.47 from the previous quote of $257,667.25, which would be around $108 per square foot. After some discussion the BOE decided to go through a bidding process to try to get the price down as low as it could before proceeding with the project.
