Several drug arrests reported

Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department.

On March 6, a routine traffic stop on Merrill Miles Road resulted in the arrest of Sherman Clark, age 29, of Lumber City. Clark was charged with simple possession of marijuana, DUI/alcohol, suspended license and stopping in roadway. Also arrested in connection with the stop, was Jerry Davis, age 25, of Baxley. Davis was charged with open container and littering.

March 6, a routine traffic stop on U.S. Highway 1 North resulted in the arrest of Toby M. Tanner, age 17, of Baxley. Tanner was charged with simple possession of marijuana.

March 6, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to a domestic. A boyfriend and girlfriend had a dispute. The girlfriend left the residence.

March 8, answered a call to Craven Road in reference to a one-vehicle cow accident. No injuries were reported.

March 8, during a routine traffic stop on Hwy. 341, a passenger of vehicle Carlos Singleton, age 21, of Brunswick, was arrested and charged with concealed weapon and possession of marijuana.

March 8, answered a call to Hill Top Road in reference to a domestic call. A father and daughter had a dispute.

March 9, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to a theft. A complainant stated that someone had stolen a Cole planter valued at $300.00 from back of her residence. Investigation continues.

March 9, answered a call to Lee Wood Road in reference to trespassing. The complainant stated an offender was driving in her yard. The complainant went to confront driver to stay out of her yard when the offender spun tires in her front yard leaving the residence.

March 10, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report identity theft. A complainant stated he received two boxes from Dish Network requesting him to return equipment to Dish Network Co., Louisville, Kentucky. Complainant stated he has never owned or used a Dish Network satellite system.

March 10, during a routine traffic stop on Wayne Jones Road a passenger of vehicle, Crystal Payne, age 18, Baxley was arrested and charged with pills out of original container. Payne has since been released on bond.

March 10, answered a call to Herbert Rentz road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated two of her dogs had been stolen, a Rat Terrier (black and white in color) and a Shihtzu (brown in color). Both dogs are female and valued at $1000.00. Investigation continues.

March 11, answered a call to Howard Brannon Road in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated he was missing a Colt or Jennings 9mm pistol, from his cabinet in his residence. Investigation continues.

March 12, a complainant came to sheriff’s office in reference to harassing phone calls. The complainant stated her husband’s ex-girlfriend keeps calling her family.
