The Appling County Commissioners met for a regular monthly meeting on March 3. During the meeting board members voted to approve the first four items on the road priority list for 2009 - 2010. These priorities include resurfacing 3.1 miles of Red Oak Road, the replacement of a bridge on Fire Tower Road, paving Vernon Williams Road and also paving Corinth Road. The commissioners will review the remainder of the list at a called work session to be held on Tuesday, March 10.
Other business
The commission approved the repair of a truck used by the Appling County Landfill. The truck needs a new engine.
Buildings and Grounds Superintendent Troy Rushing made a request to the commission to purchase a commercial-grade pressure washer at a cost of $1,300.00. The board approved the request.
Interim County Manager Lee Lewis reported to the board that the new inmate medical insurance program would become effective on April 1.
