The Appling County Heritage Center announced in the February 18 issue of The Baxley News-Banner that Abraham Eason has been selected for the Hall of Fame. He was an early settler in this area and is noted for being the minister who first brought Methodism to Appling County.

This is the first time the descendants did not have a portrait of the person selected because at the time of his life, photography was not part of the current technology. I hope everyone will be pleased by the portrayal of Mr. Eason to be framed and hung in the Hall of Fame. The induction will take place at Bethel United Methodist Church on Sunday, March 15 at 3:00 p.m. and the public is invited.

Please encourage your readers to submit names of more persons that have influenced our county’s development. We need to recognize those who have paved the way for the present residents of Appling County.
