Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department.

On Feb. 13, answered a call to Zoar Road/Dyal Road in reference to a vehicle fire. The complainant stated that his truck caught on fire, he then pulled off of the roadway on to the grass and the grass caught on fire. The fire department was called and put the fire out.

Feb. 13, answered a call to the emergency room in reference to a dog bite. The victim was trying to break up two dogs from fighting. One of the dogs bit the victim.

Feb. 13, answered a call to Piney Bluff Road in reference to a suspicious vehicle. A complainant stated a vehicle had been parked at her residence for two weeks that wasn’t the homeowners. The tag was run on vehicle, owner was contacted and person removed the vehicle.

Feb. 14, answered a call to Stone Road in reference to trespassing. A complainant stated her son’s ex-girlfriend was found in her residence without her permission. Nothing was missing from residence.

Feb. 14, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to a domestic dispute. The dispute was between a boyfriend and girlfriend. The victim was found at a neighbor’s trailer and she stated that the boyfriend had hit her and pulled her hair.

Feb. 14, answered a call to Moody Mobile Home Park in reference to an assault. The complainant stated an offender came to her residence started fussing with her and then hit her. The offender left the residence before officers arrived.

Feb. 14, answered a call to Lee Woods’s road in reference to a theft. An unknown person(s) cut approximately 1000 feet of copper wire off of utility poles. Investigation continues.

Feb. 15, answered a call to Willard Street in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated while she was in the hospital someone had gone into her residence stole her dog and some of her belongings. Complainant stated she believed she knew who had done this. Investigation continues.

Feb. 16, responding officer took a harassment report. A complainant stated her daughter was receiving calls from a person that had just been released from jail threatening her and her boyfriend. Investigation continues.

Feb. 17, a routine traffic stop at Donnie Lewis Service Station resulted in the arrest of Richard C. Roberson, age 17, of Baxley. Roberson was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, driving while license suspended and no tag light.

Feb. 17, answered a call to Red Oak Road /Phelps Road in reference to a reckless driver. The complainant stated a tractor trailer was driving across the center lane into her lane of travel. Complainant went in the ditch to avoid being hit. No damage was noted to vehicle.

Feb. 18, answered a call to US#1 Convenience Store in reference to damage to vehicle. A complainant stated her car was parked at the above location and someone hit her vehicle on the left side doing moderate damage.

Feb. 18, answered a call to Edsel Smith Road in reference to a missing gun. The complainant stated when taking his child to school he took his pistol with him, but could not remember if the gun was left on the bumper of the vehicle or put it in the console of the vehicle. The gun is missing.

Feb. 18, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report damage to a vehicle. The complainant stated unknown person(s) had keyed his vehicle and also scratched obscene words on the passenger side of his vehicle. Investigation continues.

Feb. 19, answered a call to Blackshear Hwy. in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated that an unknown person had broken into his/her residence and stole three piggy banks with approximately $100.00 in cash and change in each of them. Investigation continues.

Feb. 19, answered a call to US 1 North in reference to damage to property. The complainant stated that unknown person (s) ran off the roadway and hit his trashcan destroying it.

Feb. 20, answered a call to River Ridge Road in reference to a fight. The complainant stated an offender came to her residence and wanted to fight her. Offender had left the residence before the officer arrived.
