The News-Banner received the following news release from the Appling County Sheriff’s Department:

In reference to the alleged incident that was reported that occurred at Altamaha School involving children and a member of the janitorial service, the incident has been investigated by the GBI Douglas Office, Appling County DFACS and the Appling County Sheriff’s Office. The District Attorney’s Office has reviewed the case as well.

At this time the investigation does not substantiate evidence that would warrant an arrest or presentment to the Grand Jury. Sheriff Benny Deloach assures citizens that allegations of this nature will be thoroughly investigated.
