The Appling County Heritage Center applauds Dr. Carol Ebel in her new position as Assistant Editor of The Papers Of George Washington at the University of Virginia. She will be responsible for preparing for publication the 15th Volume of these valuable historical documents.
Carol Ebel moved to Baxley with her mother and father, Russell and Alice Ebel, when she was in seventh grade. She was an Honor Graduate of the Appling County Public Schools and received her undergraduate degree from Georgia Southern. She received her Masters Degree and her PhD in Early American History from the University of Georgia.
Dr. Ebel has taught gifted students in Appling County and taught history at Georgia Southern University, Brewton Parker College and Armstrong State University in Savannah. She is the author of numerous articles and book reviews.
Dr. Ebel says the opportunity to see and touch the very papers that The Father Of Our Country actually read and wrote is the fulfillment of a wonderful dream.
The Appling County Heritage Center thanks Dr. Ebel for all her valuable assistance through the years and wishes the very best to her in her new position. We are very proud of you!
Dr. Carol Ebel will be the Guest Speaker at the Appling County Heritage Center’s Annual Meeting, Thursday evening, January 15, 7:00 p.m. at the Apple Dumpling Restaurant. All are cordially invited to attend on a Dutch treat basis.
