The Appling County Recreation Department will be well represented in upcoming state tournaments, as seven teams will compete across the state.

The Midget Girls All Star team won the district tournament that was held in Baxley last week. They defeated Telfair County 5-3, Brantley County 12-0, Richmond Hill 12-0, lost to Telfair 9-6, then defeated Telfair to capture the crown 19-7. These young ladies will travel to Hazlehurst on July 10-12 to compete in the state tournament.

The Mite Girls All Stars received a bye during the district tournament. They will compete in the state tournament on July 10-12 in Baxley.

The Junior Girls All Star team received a bye during the district tournament. They will also play in Baxley on July 10-12.

The Senior Girls All Star team will travel to Nashville (Berrien County) to compete in their state tournament, which will be held July 10-12.

The Mite Boys All Star team traveled to Long County to play for the district title. They defeated Richmond Hill 17-7, Pierce County 14-2, and Long County 15-0 in the championship game. These youngsters will travel to Madison (Morgan County) to compete for the state title on July 10-12.

The Midget Boys All Star team defeated Charlton County 4-3, Pierce County 13-6, and Pierce County 9-1 to punch their ticket to the state tournament. They will travel to Hazlehurst on July 9-12 to compete for the crown.

The Junior Boys All Star team defeated Telfair County 12-0, Long County 15-0, Jeff Davis County 7-6, and Jeff Davis 18-5 in the championship game. They will travel to Nashville (Berrien County) to compete for the state crown on July 9-12.
