Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department.

On June 13, answered a call to Gene Road, Surrency, in reference to damage to property. The complainant stated unknown person(s) damaged his mailbox along with his mother’s and grandmother’s mailboxes. Investigation continues.

June 13, answered a call to Ben Carter Road in reference to a one-vehicle accident. A vehicle hit a cow. No injuries were reported.

June 14, answered a call to Spring Branch Road in reference to a domestic. The altercation occurred between a boyfriend and girlfriend. The boyfriend hit her 4-wheeler with a sledge hammer.

June 14, answered a call to Crosby Chapel Church Road in reference to a domestic dispute. The dispute occurred between neighbors. A complainant stated the neighbor’s children let her pig out of the pen.

June 14, answered a call to Tupelo Circle in reference to a civil matter. A complainant stated he paid $500.00 for a laptop computer. The husband and wife divorced and wife sold the laptop computer.

June 14, a traffic stop on Azalea Road resulted in the arrest of Bradley Glynn Branch, age 23, and Justin Duerell Griffis, age 24, both of Baxley. Branch was charged with transactions in drug related objects. Griffis was charged with possession of marijuana.

June 16, answered a call to Elmwood Lane in reference to child neglect. A five-year-old child was wandering around the neighborhood. A resident of the neighborhood stated the child had been at her home for two to three hours. DFAC’s was notified and responded to parent’s residence.

June 17, answered a call to Bradley Road in reference to a domestic dispute. The dispute was between a husband and wife. Mae Crapps, age 44, and William Crapps, age 45, both of Baxley were both arrested and both charged with disorderly conduct and simple battery.

June 17, a routine traffic stop on Red Oak/Holstein Road resulted in the arrest of James Wayne Aspinwall, age 27, of Callahan, Fla. Aspinwall was charged with driving while license withdrawn, drugs to be kept in original container, and operating restrictions ATV on roadway. Also found were outstanding warrants from Florida.

June 18, answered a call to the wildlife management area in reference to an accident. A victim lost control of a four-wheeler he was riding causing injury to his back. Victim was transported to Appling E.R. to be checked out.

June 18, answered a call to Doris Street in reference to a possible vehicle theft. Joshua Ellis Thomas, age 18, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, theft by taking and criminal damage to property in the second degree.

June 19, answered a call to Cook Street in reference to a suicide threat. The victim had bad thoughts of hurting herself. Victim was taken to Appling ER.

June 19, answered a call to Zoar Road in reference to dog attack. A complainant stated that the neighbor’s dogs attacked her dogs. Complainant took her dogs to the veterinarian.
