Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department.

On May 29, answered a call to North Main Street in reference to harassing phone calls. A complainant stated an offender keeps calling his cell phone and does not know how offender got his number.

May 29, answered a call to Callaway Lane in reference to a domestic dispute. The altercation was between a brother and sister.

May 29, a routine traffic stop on Ben Carter Road and Lennox Road resulted in the arrest of Jeffery Lee Cole, age 52, of Baxley. Cole was charged with VGCSA, no tag on a motorcycle, no proof of insurance, driving while license withdrawn, and theft by receiving stolen property.

May 30, answered a call to Savannah Lane in reference to a vehicle fire. An Appling County Deputy and the Altamaha Volunteer Fire Dept. responded to put out the fire. The vehicle sustained extensive damage.

May 30, answered a call to Allen Street in reference to theft. Two persons made a deal to trade home repairs for a gun and two old lawn mowers. Individual never finished home repairs but took items.

May 31, answered a call to Lanes Bridge on Hwy. 144 in reference to damage to property. While driving vehicle across Lanes Bridge, a complainant stated the vehicle that was being met threw an object out of vehicle and hit the windshield of complainant’s vehicle doing damage to the windshield.

May 31, answered a call to Quincy Lane in reference to a domestic. Altercation was between acquaintances.

June 1, answered a call to Contender Boats in reference to a burglary. The door handle was busted to gain entry to a storage room. Missing from inside was a toolbox, cutting torch, hoses and a stick welder. Investigation continues.

June 1, answered a call to Golden Isles West in reference to damage to a vehicle. Someone had broken into a 1999 Ford Explorer and took the radio and CD changer. Investigation continues.

June 1, answered a call to Ten Mile Road in reference to damage to property. A rock flew up and struck passenger side of the vehicle’s windshield causing the window to bust.

June 1, answered a call to Buckhead Road in reference to a domestic. The dispute was between a husband and wife.

June 2, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report damage to a vehicle. A complainant stated they were riding behind a Appling County Road Dept. vehicle loaded with asphalt and rocks. A rock flew out and cracked the windshield.

June 2, answered a call to Dyal School Road in reference to a one-vehicle accident. A large bird flew into windshield doing damage to windshield.

June 2, answered a call to Railroad Street, Surrency, in reference to a theft. Reported stolen was a girl’s model, purple Road Master bicycle, from in front of City Hall. Bike is valued at $150.00.

June 2, answered a call to Post Road in reference to harassing phone calls.

An ex-wife keeps calling an ex-husband and his mother.

June 2, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report a stolen credit card. The complainant stated she lost her wallet with credit card inside. The card has been attempted to be used at Wal-Mart twice unsuccessfully. Investigation continues.

June 3, answered a call to Appling ER in reference to a dog bite. The victim stated she was trying to break up a fight between her Boxer and another dog. The Boxer bit her on the elbow.

June 3, answered a call to County Farm Road in reference to a one-vehicle deer accident. No Injuries were reported.

June 3, answered a call to US Hwy. 1 South in reference to a one-vehicle accident. The victim hit a bob cat. No Injuries were reported.

June 3, answered a call to Hwy. 341 East in reference to a one-vehicle accident. The victim hit a construction barrel. No injuries were reported.

June 3, answered a call to Dub Baxley Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated his house had been egged.

June 3, answered a call to Cleve White Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated unknown person (s) had taken a turkey fryer brand name Bayon Classic and a brand new crock pot off of a side porch of a vacant house.

June 4, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report identity theft. The complainant stated Finger Hut Inc. has been calling harassing her for a bill she does not owe. She stated she had not ordered anything from this company in over twenty years.

June 4, answered a call to Old Surrency Road in reference to a one-vehicle deer accident. No Injuries were reported.

June 4, answered a call to Wayne Jones Road in reference to attempted suicide. The victim was taken to Appling ER.

June 4, a complainant reported a personal property dispute located on Sandy Road. The complainant is in the Navy and his daughter and her boyfriend agreed to keep his personal belongings for him. The girlfriend and boyfriend broke up and the boyfriend will not let the ex-girlfriend get her father’s belongings.

June 4, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report a domestic, which occurred on Beach Road. The altercation was between a husband and wife.

June 5, answered a call to Hatch Parkway north in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated an unknown person (s) ran off the roadway and through his fence.

June 5, answered a call to Miles Chapel Church Road in reference to damage to property. The complainant stated he would not give his friend money to buy crack rock and the friend got mad and busted his windshield on a vehicle.

June 6, answered a call to Hundreds Road in reference to a two-vehicle accident. No injuries were reported. Sharon Deneda Paulk, age 34, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with DUI, failure to stop at a stop sign and following too close. Paulk has since been released on bond.
