Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Department.
On July 17, answered a call to Buckhorn Road in reference to identity fraud. The complainant stated that an unknown person ordered Dish Network service in her name.
July 18, answered a call to Savannah Way in reference to harassing phone calls. The complainant stated an ex-boyfriend keeps calling and making threats.
July 18, answered a call to Vera Sellers Lane in reference to a theft. An unknown person(s) went into a mobile home and took three rolls of carpet and backing valued at $420.00. Investigation continues.
July 18, answered a call to Hilltop Road in reference to a domestic. The dispute was between a husband and wife. The husband left the residence before the officer arrived.
July 18, answered a call to ED Carter Road in reference to a domestic. The altercation was between a girlfriend and boyfriend. Both parties agreed to separate.
July 18, answered a call to Orange Street in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated an acquaintance broke the hinges off of a door gaining entrance to residence to get personal items.
July 19, answered a call to Oak Cliff Street in reference to a domestic. The altercation was between a husband and wife. Both subjects were given disorderly conduct citations.
July 19, complainant came to sheriff’s office to report his sixteen-year-old son having sexual activity with a thirty-three year old woman.
July 21, answered a call to Orvin Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated that unknown person had damaged the mailbox.
July 21, answered a call to Palmetto Circle in reference to a burglary. The residence doors had been forced open and lights were on inside residence. Missing from residence were clothing, dishes, and money. Total value of the missing items was $1,500.00. The complainant saw a black male with close cut hair, wearing a white t-shirt, five foot eight inches and about twenty two years old coming from the residence. Investigation continues.
July 21, answered a call to Dairy Road in reference to a naked man in yard. Wayne Sherman, age 31, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
July 21, complainant came to sheriff’s office to report a theft on Oscar Tippins Road. The complainant stated a 410 gauge single shot shotgun, 243 caliber rifle bolt action, single shot 22 caliber rifle, 20 gauge single shot gun, one pair of high powered binoculars, and a pellet type BB gun were taken from a garage; no force entry was noted. Investigation continues.
July 22, answered a call to Piney Bluff Road in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated she is overseeing her mother’s residence while she is out of town. A subject had broken into the residence and has been sleeping and cooking food at the residence.
July 23, answered a call to Beach Road in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated that an unknown person(s) went inside his Dodge pickup and stole the following items: GPS, two pair of designer sunglasses, two phone chargers and a check in the amount $106.00. Total value of items taken was $846.00. Investigation continues.
July 23, answered a call to Captain Joe’s Restaurant in reference to a dispute. The dispute was between employees.
July 23, answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft that occurred on Moody Altman Road. A local farmer followed a vehicle to Wal-Mart that had just stolen watermelons from his field. Ulbe Ramirez, age 21, of Baxley, Christian Ronaldo, age 21, of Baxley, and Lucino Aguilar, age 35, of Baxley, were arrested and charged with theft by taking (misdemeanor). Twenty-one watermelons were taken valued at $50.00.
July 23, a routine traffic stop on Morris Road, Surrency, resulted in the arrest of Mark Stephen Darsey, age 43, of Surrency. Darsey was charged with V.G.C.S.A. and obstruction of an officer.
July 24, answered a call to Hatch Parkway South in reference to a theft. A contractor arrived on the job site where he was building a house and found the tank and pump was missing from the deep well. The tank and pump were valued at approx. $695.00. Investigation continues.
