The following are highlights of incidents that were handled by officers of the Baxley Police Department.

On Oct. 2 at approximately 7:00 p.m., met with a resident at a Tollison Street address in reference to a theft. On arrival the resident told officers that person(s) unknown had removed his son’s mini-motorcycle sometime during the night. The motorcycle is described as black in color, with a Honda 4-cycle engine, with a razor frame, and is similar to a chopper motorcycle.

Oct. 6 at approx. 3:00 p.m., met with a complainant at the Ernest J. Parker Recreational Park on Jr. High Drive in reference to some property damage. On arrival the complainant told officers that sometime during the night person(s) unknown had knocked over the granite monument, which had been erected in honor of Ernest J. Parker, causing it to break into.

Oct. 6 at approx. 3:20 p.m., met with a resident at a Fair Street address in reference to a theft. On arrival the resident told officers that person(s) unknown had removed her black and yellow push mower from her back yard, sometime over the past few days.

Oct. 8 at approx. 11:15 a.m., met with a resident at a Donnie Lane Apartment address in reference to a burglary. On arrival the resident told officers that while she was away from her home person(s) unknown entered and removed a 32- inch color Magnavox TV with built in DVD player.

Oct. 9 at approx. 10:30 p.m., while working a checkpoint, along with a consent to search a vehicle, a small bag of marijuana was seized. Arrested in connection with this seizure was Adam Tomlinson, age 17, of Baxley, on charges of one count possession of marijuana.

Oct. 9 at approx. 11:00 p.m., answered a call to Traditions in reference to a fight. On arrival officers discovered one of the subjects involved in the fight had left, but in a few minutes other officers found him and returned him back to the scene. Charged in this incident were Danny Matthew Simpson, age 20, of Hazlehurst and Coleman Ryan Williams, age 23, of Hephzibah, on charges of one count each of disorderly conduct.

Oct. 12 at approx. 11:57 a.m., met with a resident at a Johnson Street address in reference to a theft. On arrival the resident told officers that person(s) unknown removed a utility trailer from her back yard, sometime during the night. The trailer is described as a 2006 home utility trailer and is black in color and bearing Georgia tag TL1H501.

Oct. 14 at approx. 11:24 a.m., met with the SRO officer at Appling County High School in reference to an unruly student. On arrival the SRO told officers that while he was investigating the complaint, he discovered a syringe on the student. The student, a 15-yoa was transported to the detention center where he was charged with one count each of possession of a drug related object and possession of a controlled substance on school grounds. The juvenile was released pending further judicial proceedings.

Oct. 15 at approx. 9:42 a.m., answered a call to NaNa’s Attic in reference to a property damage incident. On arrival the complainant told officers that sometime during the night person(s) unknown had pried the front door to her business. Nothing was reported taken at report time.

Oct. 16 at approx. 8:25 p.m., met with a resident at a Beach Road address in reference to a property damage incident. On arrival the resident told officers that person(s) unknown had threw a cider block through the glass part of his front door. He also told officers that he had been receiving several harassing phone calls and someone had also cut the phone line going into his house.

Oct. 17 at approx. 5:12 p.m., answered a call to an address on Second Street in reference to a theft. On arrival the resident told officers that he had been out of town, and when he returned he noticed that person(s) unknown had removed his water pump and tank from a shallow well he had. The pump was a Ruth-Berry brand.

Oct. 21 at approx. 8:03 p.m., stopped a vehicle for a headlight violation. As a result of the stop and consent search of the vehicle, a small green plastic baggy of marijuana was seized. Arrested in connection with the stop and seizure was a 16-yoa juvenile of Baxley on charges of one count each of headlight violation, no insurance, driving while unlicensed, suspended registration and possession of marijuana. Two other juveniles in the vehicle, age 13 and age 16, also of Baxley, were charged with one count each of possession of marijuana. Also charged in this incident was Rhonda Kaye Solomon, age 39, of Baxley, on one count of allowing unlicensed person to drive. All three juveniles have been released to department of juvenile justice pending further judicial proceedings.

Oct. 22 at approx. 8:29 a.m., answered a call to Ombudsman on Brobston Street in reference to some contraband. On arrival the officers met with a teacher whom had a 15-yoa juvenile detained for bringing some pills to school in two plastic bags. Seized were one and a half blue pills in one bag and 13 small white pills in the other. The juvenile was charged with one-count pills not in original container and possession of a controlled substance on school grounds. The juvenile was released pending further judicial proceedings.

Oct. 22 at approx. 3:22 p.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. On arrival officers met with the LPC officer whom had a subject detained for taking some items without paying for them. Arrested in connection with this incident was Tamela Maria Ann Hallman, age 21, of Baxley, on charges of one count theft by shoplifting.

Oct. 23 after an ongoing investigation, two arrests were made in connection with the Sept. 18 burglary to a residence on Patterson Road. Taken in the burglary was a large amount of jewelry items, ranging from pendants, necklaces, bracelets, rings, chains, earrings and gold coins and a collection of old coins. Arrested in connection with the burglary was Walker Lamar Bazemore, age 19, of Baxley, and James Robert Land, age 31, of Eastman, on one count each of burglary.

Oct. 23 at approx. 6:35 p.m., made a traffic stop on a vehicle and its occupants in connection with passing forged checks around town. A brief investigation led to the seizure of 21 checks that had already been filled out and were waiting to be passed. Also seized were several different types of pills in a container, along with $1,843.00 in currency. Arrested in connection with this stop and seizure were Michelle Denise Dixon, age 29, of Springfield, on charges of 21 counts of possession of forged/illegally printed checks; Cody Michael Callison, age 17, of Rincon, S.C., on charges of 21 counts of possession of forged/illegally printed checks and one count of cashing a fake check; Wanda Warren, age 36, of Savannah, on charges of 21 counts of possession of forged/illegally printed checks, one count cashing forged/illegally printed check, and two counts V.G.C.S.A. possession of a controlled substance, and a 16-yoa juvenile, of Ridgeland, S.C., on charges of 21 counts of poss. of forged/illegally printed checks and one count cashing of forged/illegally printed check.

Oct. 24 at approx. 2:39 a.m., met with a subject at the Appling County HealthCare System in reference to a subject being cut. On arrival officers met with Tony Lorenzo Bentley, age 22, of Baxley, who related that he had been at the Ernest J. Parker Recreation Park on Jr. High Drive, and had gotten into an altercation with an unknown subject, where he received a cut on his arm as a result of the altercation.

Oct. 24 at approx. 12:30 p.m., met with a complainant at the Appling County High School. The complainant stated she had parked her vehicle and when she returned person(s) unknown had wrote graffiti and drew graphic pictures on the vehicle windows.

Oct. 25 at approx. 6:21 a.m., met with a complainant at the Ernest J. Parker Recreation Park on Jr. High Drive in reference to a burglary. On arrival the complainant told officers that person(s) unknown had gained entry by prying the door open. The complainant showed officers to the gumball machines that had been broken into and the change removed.

Oct. 25 at approx. 3:40 p.m., answered a call to the Appling County HealthCare System Emergency Room to damage to property incident. On arrival the complainant told officers that he had just made a service call at a MLK Drive address, and had pulled to the side of the road to do some paper work, when an unknown subject smashed out the drivers side rear window. The complainant advised he attempted to subdue the subject but he got away from him and fled on foot. The offender was described as a black male with short hair, wearing glasses and outfitted in black jeans and a purple shirt. Officers checked the area but were unable to find anyone matching the description of the offender.
