The Appling County Recreation Department Mite (9/10) Football All Star Team was victorious in the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association District Two Football Tournament. The team opened the tournament with a win over Jeff Davis in Hazlehurst by a score of 40-6. Following that win Appling traveled to Waycross for the semifinals and finals, which were held at Trembling Earth Recreation Complex. The team defeated Pierce County 27-0 in the semifinal game on Saturday, Dec. 5. In the finals, held Monday, Dec. 7, Appling County was victorious over McIntosh County 22-0. Appling County Recreation Department (ACRD) Director Michael Coleman stated that ACRD is very proud of the accomplishments of this team and look forward to years of great achievement.
