Bayne Griffin, 68, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 27, 2016. Visitation was Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel. Memorial Services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2016 in Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel.
Bayne was born on August 17, 1947, in Baxley. He was a graduate of Appling County High School, after which he joined the United States Air Force. Upon leaving the service, he began working with the civil service at Robins Air Force Base, where he developed a passion for his work as a machinist. He was a member of the Gateway Fellowship Church of God. He loved baseball, and racquetball. A true outdoorsman, he loved hunting, and fishing with his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Kate Griffin and his three brothers: J.L., James, and Glenn Griffin.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife, Laurie Carr Griffin; his daughters: Tiffany McDermid (Andrew), Warner Robins; Melissa Whitley (Scott), Perry; Tammy Kersey (James), Perry; his grandchildren: Abigail, J.J., and Jacob Kersey; Easton McDermid; his siblings: June Dale Kimbrel; Vernie Griffin; Venola Miles; and J.F. Griffin; his mother-in-law, Janet Carr, Summerville, SC; and a host of family and friends.
