According to Appling County Sheriff Benny Deloach, after several weeks of eluding law enforcement officers, Chadwick Kyle Walker, 35, of Baxley, was apprehended last week while on a stolen golf cart. He is being held without bond, pending seven charges of burglary, two charges of battery and one charge of theft by taking along with other charges in Jeff Davis County and Wayne County.
Deloach also reported that another well-known fugitive, known for avoiding arrest, Christopher Owen Byrne, 33, of Baxley, was apprehended on July 20 after a brief confrontation with officers. He is being held on a parole warrant without bond.
Other incidents reported
An ongoing drug investigation by the Appling County Sheriff’s Office has led to the arrest of James Ja’Darius Solomon, 23, of Baxley. Solomon was charged with a felony charge of VGCS/Subtex, felony charge of VGCS/hydrocodone.
On July 13, answered a call to Corey Street in reference to a theft. The complainant stated two guns were stolen from his vehicle. One gun was entered into the GCIC as stolen. The serial number was not known at time of report for the other gun. Investigation continues.
July 15, answered a call to a local car dealership in reference to a theft. The complainant stated he went to a local dealership and traded his vehicle, but forgot he left his checkbook and a pistol in the vehicle. The next day when he returned to the dealership they checked the vehicle and the items were missing. The gun was entered into the GCIC as stolen. Investigation continues.
July 15, answered a call to the Appling Co. Recreation Dept. in reference to a juvenile problem. The mother of a fourteen-year-old female stated her daughter had left with a sixteen-year-old male. When they both returned it was found that female and male had sent pictures to each other of their private body parts. All parties were brought to the sheriff’s office and the Department of Juvenile Justice was notified.
July 15, answered a call to Beaver Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated his Black & Decker blower valued at $77.00 was stolen from his residence. A possible suspect was named and investigation continues.
July 15, answered a call to Golden Isles West in reference to a theft by deception. A local car dealership sold a vehicle to a female subject in another town. The female was to bring an insurance check on a wrecked vehicle that she was replacing with the new vehicle and the female’s son left in the vehicle. A contract was drafted but the female never returned with insurance check. Investigation continues.
July 16, answered a call to Piney Bluff Road in reference to damage to property. The complainant stated her vehicle was parked in the yard and due to the extreme heat the back glass shattered.
