Annie Sue Crayton Williams, age 69, died Saturday, April 30, 2016.
Mrs. Williams was born to the late Annie Laura Barnhill and John Henry Clayton on September 26, 1946 in Albany.
She was a faithful member of the Thankful New Jersey Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a choir member.
She graduated from Monroe High School with the Class of 1964. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Albany State University in 1968 and later received her Master’s Degree from Valdosta State University.
She was devoted teacher for 33 years and retired from Appling County Middle School in Baxley. She later served as a substitute teacher for 15 years and was a member of the Appling County Retired Educators Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Laura Barnhill and John Henry Crayton and sister, Cynthia Patterson.
Survivors include her husband, George Williams of Baxley; sons, Calvin Williams of Snellville and Kevin Williams of Orlando, Florida; daughter, Kara Williams (Godfrey) Gaisie of Decatur; three step-daughters, Angela (Robert) Berryhill of Green Cove Springs, Florida, Deitrice (Preseton) Joyce of Bethesda, Maryland and Trina (Felton) Brewton of Claxton; step-son, Charles Williams of Grayson; grandchildren, Kaiamori Williams, Morgan Gaisie and Godfrey Gaisie; aunt, Eva Lee Barnhill Davis of Tacoma, Washington; cousins, Joan (Charles) Belvin of Atlanta, Frances Davis and Jacqueline Davis, both of Tacoma, Washington; sister-in-laws, Irene Williams of Lyons, Mattie Brown and Linda (Dennis) Roberson, both of Baxley; brother-in-laws, Rueben Talven and Mack Williams, both of Baxley. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. with the Reverend Darron Moore presiding.
Interment followed in the Old Field Memorial Gardens in Baxley.
Repast was held in the Thankful New Jersey Missionary Baptist Church Annex.
Visitation was held Friday, May 6, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at C.M. Brown Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were nephews. Honorary pallbearers were the Monroe High School Class of 1964 and the Appling County Retired Educators Association.
Musical selections were rendered by the combined choir and Terrence Gibson, Jr.
