David Thomas, 66, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011. David was born March 7, 1945 in Chatham County to the late Charlie Thomas and the late Novedene Durrance Edenfield. He was a member of Lumber City Church of God. Mr. Thomas was employed with Boilermakers Union No. 26. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Thomas and Hughes “Butch” Thomas.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Beasley Thomas of Baxley; one son and daughter-in-law, Desire and Jason Boyett Dixon of Savannah; one brother, William Thomas of Savannah; one granddaughter, Natalie Grace Dixon and four nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 7 at Hopewell United Methodist Church with the Revs. David Deen and Buddy Coss officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jason Dixon, John Beck, Brenden Youmans, James Tanner, David Pittman and Herman Spell.
Hopewell United Methodist Church Choir rendered musical selections.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
