The following are highlights of incidents that were handled by officers of the Baxley Police Department over the past several days.
On March 31 at approximately 10:26 a.m., officers met with a complainant at Jada’s in reference to a burglary. On arrival the complainant told officers that person(s) unknown had kicked in a back door to access the business. Reported missing were company computers, a 32-inch television and office equipment. The missing items are described as a computer (serial number DTSJLAA003320056D29200) and a 19-inch monitor with cords and speakers (serial number is MMLX6AA0013270C77F8521), a second computer (serial number ES09591905) and 19-inch monitor with cords and speakers (serial number CNK2220G19), a third computer with a 15-inch monitor with cords and speakers, a Hewlett-Packard color LaserJet printer 300-400, a 32-in Magnavox flat screen television and a NEC DSX34BBL telephone.
April 2 at approx. 11:51 a.m., officers met with a complainant at the Bay Street Mini Storage in reference to a theft. On arrival the complainant told officers that units 15, 17, 34 and 35 had been broken into. Reported missing from unit 35 was two Victor’s model welding torches and one four-foot long pipe cutter.
April 3 at approx. 8:47 a.m., officers met with a complainant in the Walmart parking lot in reference to a theft. On arrival the complainant told officers that person(s) unknown had entered his 1994 Ford Ranger and removed his cellphone. The phone is described as a HTC Desire 610.
April 4 at approx. 6:54 p.m., officers answered a call to Walmart in reference to a theft. On arrival the LPC officer told officers that they had identified two person(s) from an earlier theft, in which they concealed an item in a bag before going through the self-checkout. After an investigation, Shelia N. McCarty, 18, and Jennifer L. Deen, 29, of Hazlehurst were charged with one count each of theft by shoplifting in connection with this incident.
On April 5 at approx. 5:09 p.m. officers answered a call to assist the EMS on a possible drug overdose incident at a local motel. On arrival officers leared that one of the occupants of the room had to be transported to the E.R. for further medical assistance and was later transferred to St. Vincent for further observation and follow up. Officers found several drug related objects inside the room along with two other occupants. As a result of an investigation Lenonna Acosta, 21, of Clearwater, Florida was charged with one count each of possession of marijuana and possession of a drug related object. Also charged was Chelsea Lusczyski, 22, of a Pinellos Park, Florida address on one count possession of a drug related object.
April 6 at approx. 8:11 a.m., officers met with a city worker at the Water Park in reference to some found contraband. On arrival the worker told officers that he had a complaint from a person that the toilet in the women’s bathroom was running and would not quit. When he went to investigate, he discovered some contraband inside the toilet tank where he then called the police. After an investigation, officers seized a large bag of tobacco, along with a black plastic bag that contained a disposable lighter, eight packs of Top cigarette papers, two rolls of black electrical tape and thirteen 9X7 inch clear bags. Chief Godfrey would like to ask that if anyone has misplaced these items and would like to claim them, to please come by police department at their earliest convenience and an officer will be willing to assist them.
April 7 at approx. 8:25 a.m. officers met with a complainant at the police department in reference to a theft. On arrival the complainant told officers that person(s) unknown had come onto his property on Junior High Drive and removed the motor from his boat, a 15 HP manual 152Y9A Force, serial number 2045) and an eight gallon gas tank. The motor has been entered on the GCIC computer system as being stolen.
