Mary Ann Vaughn, 69, died Tuesday, January 25, 2011 in Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick. Mary Ann was a native of Lowndes County and was born May 3, 1941 to the late Oliver Columbus and Berta Mae Yates Foskey. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she attended the Ruth Sunday-School Class and the Joy Group. Ms. Vaughn was preceded in death by her husband, Cadwell Vaughn.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Vaughn Butler and husband, Rhett of Brunswick; special friend, Phil Jenkins, Sr. of Baxley; one sister, Lois Smith of Florida; one granddaughter, Andrea Branch Miller and husband, Mark of Brunswick and one great-granddaughter, MacKynna Brooke Miller and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27 at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Keith Alderman and Ken Creekmore officiating. Interment followed in Omega Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were David Gruber, Miles Vaughn, Jimmy Carter, Gene Butler, Randall Branch and Mark Miller.
Honorary pallbearers were Ruth Sunday-School Class of First Baptist Church, Shannon Dubberly, Briana Baxley, Ellen Carter, Nancy Griffin, Helen Kennedy, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Sellers, Rose Yawn, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Herrington, Douglas Doyle, Mildred Butler, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Jenkins, Jr. and the Joy Group of First Baptist Church of Baxley.
Musical selections were rendered by Claire Tanner and Trish White.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
