Appling County Sheriff Benny Deloach reports that an investigation into a theft reported on November 12, that occurred on Pitty Lane, has led to the arrest of Barborah Mallissa Sanders, age 45, of Baxley. Sanders was charged with theft by taking.
The following are incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s office over the past few days.
On December 10, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report damage to property on Old Surrency Road. The complainant stated someone had shot the windows out of his vacant trailer and holes were all over the outside walls. The damage appeared to be made by a pellet rifle.
Dec. 11, answered a call to Poor Robin Road in reference to harassment. A complainant stated her ex-boyfriend continues to call her after being asked not to call. The responding officer called the ex-boyfriend and asked him not to make any more calls to the complainant and he stated he would not.
Dec. 11, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a missing person. The complainant stated his granddaughter went to Stone Mountain and he has not heard from her since. The granddaughter was later located.
Dec. 11, answered a call to Hatch Parkway in reference to threats. The complainant stated a subject was sending him threatening text messages. Complainant was advised of legal action he could take.
Dec. 12, answered a call to VP Lynch Road in reference to damage to property. The complainant stated he had rented a mobile home to a family and when they left they had completely trashed the mobile home and broke four windows. The complainant was advised of legal action he could pursue.
Dec. 13, answered a call to Buffkin Road in reference to a stolen vehicle and also a rifle that was missing. Investigation led to the arrest of Amanda Marie Sweat, 31, of Baxley. Sweat was charged with one count of theft by taking a motor vehicle and one count theft by taking.
Dec. 13, answered a call to Courson Road in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated she found the back screen had been cut and the back door forced open. The house appeared to have been gone through but nothing was missing at time of report. Investigation continues.
