On Monday, Nov. 9, at approximately 12:30 p.m., law enforcement and emergency responders were called to a vehicle accident on Highway 341 West, near the intersection of Nail Mobley Road. According to the Georgia State Patrol’s traffic crash report, a 1997 Oldsmobile 88 was traveling west on Highway 341, driven by James Robert Creamer, 24, of Hazlehurst, lost control, crossed the median and entered into the path of an oncoming state law enforcement vehicle traveling east on Highway 341 (2009 Chevrolet Tahoe) driven by James Archie Smiley, 30, of Darien.
Creamer and a passenger, Sabrina N. Ferreiro, 29, also of Hazlehurst, received fatal injuries as a result of the tragic accident. A third passenger in the vehicle, a three-year-old girl, and Smiley were taken to Appling HealthCare for treatment.
Appling County Sheriff’s Deputies, Appling EMS and Rescue, the Georgia State Patrol and the Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team worked at the scene and investigated the accident.
